The Third Day Church
A Thousand Years is as a Day to The Lord
"But beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day" (2 Peter 3:8 NKJV) In seeking the Lord for a Word for the New Millennium, I began to ponder the fact that we are moving into the third, and I believe the last millennium of the church. As I prayed for revelation, I remembered the scripture above from 2 Peter 3:8. The Bible says that a thousand years is as a day to the Lord. Therefore, we are not stretching it by saying that the first two millenniums could be considered the equivalent of two days and we are now entering into a "third day."
Curious as to what the Word of God says about the third day, I flipped open my laptop computer aand opened my Bible Soft program. I was simply amazed at the events in Scripture that happened on the third day!
Remember that I had been praying for revelation. As I read verse after verse, God simply started pouring His insights into my heart. Wow, I thought to myself...that prayer is really working fast!
The Third Day of Creation
I began my study in Genesis on the third day of creation. Genesis 1:9-13 tells us that on the third day, those things that had been created began to reproduce after their own kind. It was a day of incredible fruit This Third Day Church will be a time of fruitfulness and barrenness will be broken off the church. A great harvest of souls will take place!
The next passage that mentioned the third day, I found in Genesis 22:4, where Abraham offered Isaac and God provided a sacrifice. This new millennium will see the gift of giving explode in the Body of Christ and the church will give sacrificially to the poor.
The Third Day Church will be a Church of Visitation
The Third Day Church will be a church of visitation. Exodus 19:10-16 tells us that the Lord promised to come down and speak to his people on the third day. Churches will begin to experience powerful visitations of the Lord's Glory such as the Body of Christ has never known.
A New Wave of Restoration will Come
A new wave of restoration will come to the members of the Body of Christ. On the third day, David went to Ziklag and while he was gone, the enemy took all his family and possessions (1 Sam. 30). The people wanted to stone him for their losses as well. In the midst of the trial, David sought the Lord and God said, "Pursue and recover all." Special prayer for restoration for families will see those things Satan has robbed from us recovered. Prodigals will also return home to the Lord.
The temple was finished on the third day (Ezra 6:15).
We are going to see completeness to the vision God has given us for our local churches. Buildings that have been on the drawing board and in the hearts of pastors and leaders will be completed.
I was really excited when I read in scripture that Esther went in before the king on the third day and obtained favor in his sight (Esther 5:1). The church will experience a new release of favor with government and financial leaders.
In addition, there will be a new release of empowerment of women into ministry and onto the mission field.
One of the most beautiful passages in scripture in my opinion is found in Hosea: Come, let us return to the Lord; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days, He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up that we may live in His sight (Hosea 6:1-2).
Restoration of Those Who are Joseph's in the Economic Sector
The Lord is going to be doing a great work of inner healing in a supernatural way in the church. Situations that have hung in the balance and have been a thorn in the side of believers are going to come to resolution. There will be a restoration of those who are Joseph's in the economic sector and Daniel's in the business sector with a tremendous release of finances and many turning to the Lord.
Of course, one of the most powerful third day experiences in scripture is the resurrection of the Lord (Matthew 16:21). Resurrection power is going to be unleashed in a new signs and wonders movement that will have a hallmark of the raising of the dead.
The New Wine Anointing
One of the things we all want to see is a release of the new wine anointing. John 2:1 tells us that Jesus turned water into wine at a marriage. Covenantal relationships will be cemented and new corporate visions will spring up. Also, last but not least, the Third Day church will experience the wonderful wedding of the church as the bride with our wonderful bridegroom, Jesus Christ! Maranatha! Lord Jesus, come quickly!
